Interested in designing and building data management and storage systems that scale painlessly? How about tackling problems in processing large data sets using these?
Not all companies, especially web start-ups can afford to have -- or are lucky enough to find and retain -- many of you. They usually have somebody juggling their application building tasks with whatever bare minimum needs to be done for the "back end" (e.g., a brave engineer stretching software xxx or yyy that is not very easy to scale). They dream of viral growth but are secretly scared that the base they are building upon won`t support even mild success.
We are a nascent, so far self-funded venture focused in solving these problems. We want to improve today`s mainstream open-source data management and storage systems and create new systems that scale.
Currently, we are looking for a Senior Engineer that
* knows by heart what are how users prioritize the upcoming features
* can add new features in your code today as fast as you did a year ago without breaking it
* makes code coverage grows at least in lock-step with your LoC increases
* and, finally, that has experience scaling data management and storage systems, hopefully by authoring such systems, rather than just administering them better
If this resonated with you, please drop us a note telling what is hard about scaling the "back end"? What have you done about it so far? And what else would you like to do?
One last important detail. We are stubbornly located in vibrant NYC where a number of potential client start-ups on social interaction, e-commerce, ... thrive.
